What to Expect

what-to-expect-from-hospiceWhat happens when you begin the hospice referral process?

While the consideration of hospice care may seem overwhelming, everyone at Hospice Partners of Kansas strives to anticipate your needs whenever we can and address all of your concerns.

The hospice referral process usually starts with a phone call to our office. While hospice care requires a doctor's order, anyone can make a referral—doctors, nurses, caregivers and the patient themselves often make the initial call.  Family members, friends and even neighbors may make a referral or ask questions about how to engage hospice care for loved ones.

After the initial call, a Hospice Partners of Kansas representative will meet with you or your loved one and family to fully explain our philosophy and services. We will confirm medical eligibility and verify patient and family preferences for care. If hospice care is determined to be the best course, paperwork will be completed and hospices services begin within hours of referral.

If you would like to learn more about hospice care for yourself or a loved one, or have questions about the referral process, please call us today!
